but it was more background music and may not have been related to the previous song / and I don't remember what else the album had.Īnyway hopefully other solutions will allow easy manual cutting/track making.

I remember the CD that had Chumbawumba's Tubthumping that song had some stuff playing before the song started. I wonder if some of the CD manufacturer's purposely have it set so that 'tracks' end early.but if listened 'continuously' to the next track the listener wasn't going to detect it.

With that kind of issue I have a feeling CDex might not help as something on the CD is telling ProphetM's software to stop. But ProphetM mentioned that they've been transferring a collection to digital storage but their software was cutting off some of the tracks.

I still use CDex and was wondering if a suggestion opportunity would occur. Mostly I am pissed that I am going to have to re-rip dozens of CDs because WMP did it wrong. I am looking for a solution that will fix WMP, or else another program to use for MP3 ripping that puts the whole process into one easy step like WMP does, including internet-sourced track info for the MP3 tags. I used two different CD drives and this pattern held the same on both - WMP is off in playing and ripping, EAC and MPC are not. WMP rips the tracks with these incorrect track breaks, and it also plays them this way straight from the CD. Comparing the waveforms in Audacity is what showed me exactly how far off the WMP rips are, but it's easily noticeable by ear on tracks with which I am familiar. EAC and MPC start/end in the correct place when playing a CD track, and EAC cuts the rip to. I have checked multiple CDs, along with MP3 rips that I made in the past, and today I took a look at CD tracks using WMP, Exact Audio Copy and Media Player Classic. I have been unable to find this problem with WMP in any Googling, and I have narrowed it down specifically to Windows Media Player. That last half-second is treated as the beginning of the following track, so the music is all there but the track divisions are in the wrong place. But on tracks that run together from one to another, or that have actual sound within that last half-second, this utterly ruins the flow.

On most tracks this makes no difference because there's silence in that space. I discovered that the tracks it makes are cut off early by about. It's old, but it worked fine, or so I thought. I have an enormous CD collection and I've been ripping some (more) to MP3 with Windows Media Player in Windows 10. This is probably 'old tech' for most of you. I haven't posted any technical help questions on Ars for ages, but here goes.
